LongHouse Reserve

LongHouse Reserve is a non-profit museum on the East End of Long Island founded by renown textiles designer Jack Larsen, that contains an arboretum and sculpture gardens and whose mission is to exemplify living with art in all forms. Discussed the unique environment of Longhouse and the philosophy of combining art, nature, aesthetics, and spirit. Also discussed their current exhibitions, sculpture, and their variety of educational programs offered to the community. Spotlighted their school tours, family activities and workshops, and the recent Photography awards, which recognized the work of the school children in the community. The Fresh Air Fund

The Fresh Air Fund is a not-for-profit agency that has provided free summer experiences in the country to more than 1.7 million New York City children from disadvantaged communities since 1877. Each year, thousands of children visit volunteer host families in 13 states and Canada or attend one of five Fresh Air Fund camps. The Songwriter’s Hall of Fame (SHOF)

The Songwriter’s Hall of Fame was founded by musician Johnny Mercer with the ongoing mission is to celebrate and honor the contributions of America’s great popular music songwriters, while developing new writing talent through workshops, showcases, scholarships and digital initiatives. Linda Moran discussed the organization’s rich history and all the many different types of awards and scholarships that have been handed out. Also spotlighted the 40th annual SHOF Inductee Ceremony which will be held on June 18th. Lamont Dozier of the legendary songwriting team of Holland Dozier Holland will receive the prestigious Johnny Mercer award. Mr. Dozier discussed the award, and what it means to him, and also discussed his own background and musical history as a noted Arbiter of Motown music. Also discussed the free Songwriters Hall of Fame Master Class that he will be conducting on Tuesday, June 16th in Manhattan, which provides an opportunity for budding songwriters to hone their craft. Divabetic

Divabetic, is a national nonprofit that provides free education, empowerment and encouragement for women at risk who are affected by and living with diabetes and helps them to stay healthy and upbeat about their daily self-care. Mr. Szadek founded the organization after his former boss Luther Vandross died from Diabetes, and he wanted to help educate the public about the disease in a new and unique way.
