The Dan Taylor Morning Show
Weekdays 6am-10am

About Dan Taylor:

Dan’s been in radio since graduating High School in 1976 and by the age of 20 was hired by
CBS-FM where he became the youngest radio personality on the New York City airwaves! Less than a year later he was hired away to do Country at WHN where he remained one of the top 10 afternoon drivetime dominators in the US.

Dan was hired at another radio station and hosted a weekend oldies show and became the permanent fill in host for the Morning Show. Dan then joined another NYC Radio Station where he again enjoyed success for 7 years as afternoon host.

The time was right to come full circle and he again joined the ranks of the station he started with, CBS-FM. He remained there until the stations demise in 2005 but, returned in it’s rebirth as our Morning Drive host!

A voice-over artist for many commercials, and promo voice for radio and TV stations across the US and Canada, he’s been working in NYC radio for nearly 30 years. Dan divides his time between being “on the air” to being “in the air” flying his vintage planes. A commercially rated pilot, Dan has flown vintage aircraft in Great Britain and has traveled as far away as Australia, flying before 350,000 people at the Australian International Air Show ‘Down Under’. He also enjoys public speaking about early aviation history and directing school students about careers in broadcasting and aviation.

Just call him 'fly boy', at CBS-FM Dan Taylor glides you through the morning getting you up and ready for the day, but when he puts on his pilots helmet Dan glides through the air in his vintage planes! Check out Dan Taylor's interview with The Aviator Newspaper click here.

Tips On Avoiding Online Scammers

Online fraud is a serious and growing issue – the latest report from the FBI Internet Crimes Complaint Center found a 33% jump in online fraud complaints in 2008 from the previous year. Those who reported complaints lost $265 million.  Add in victims who do not report that they’ve been scammed and you’re looking at millions more. A survey by AutoTrader.com finds that 65% of Americans worry about being scammed while shopping online, and 29% have either already personally fallen victim to an online scam or know someone who has.  AutoTrader.com has partnered with renowned fraud prevention expert Sid Kirchheimer to help consumers to shop safely online. Kirchheimer offers the following advice:
  • Research the average prices for cars, computers, furniture, or whatever you’re shopping for online. If you see an item priced far below similar items, be suspicious. Scammers use dramatically low prices on high-demand items to get shoppers excited and to lower their guard.
  • Don’t let a seller rush you. Many criminals advertising items for sale online will insist a sale must happen quickly for one reason or another. This is another ploy to get shoppers to lower their guard.
  • Watch for Scammer Grammar. In e-mails or Web ads, frequent misspellings, misused words or other common language errors should be a red flag. If a seller refuses to speak to you on the phone, that should also be a red flag.
  • Never conduct online shopping from a public computer or even with your own computer in a location with unsecured Wi-Fi access.
  • Don’t click on “update your account” or other links or attachments in e-mail messages. This is a popular method to get users to inadvertently download malware or input personal or financial information into bogus Web sites that look just like sites from trusted companies or financial institutions.
  • Avoid using words from the dictionary as passwords, even when duplicated or spelled backwards. Come up with interesting and unique combinations for passwords that include symbols and numbers, as well as letters. Your first name, such as Deb, would be a bad password. On the other hand, using something like sMokinChicken@thEKitchen4U2eat would be a good one.
